St. Louis, Mo., native Alexys Plummer, left, signs to continue her college basketball career at Dillard University as Paris Junior College Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Sean LeBeauf looks on.
Paris Junior College Lady Dragons basketball player Alexys Plummer has signed to continue her playing career at Dillard University in New Orleans, La.
The St. Louis, Mo., native and graduate of Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School is finishing her sophomore year at Paris Junior College, where she helped lead the Lady Dragons to a historic season when they were ranked as high as 11th in the country by the National Junior College Athletic Association weekly poll.
"We're excited for Alexys," said PCJ Women's Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Sean LeBeauf. "She'll bring a toughness to the court that all teams need. She's very good defensively, and along with that she's got great character, an attribute all programs need in their student athletes if they want to be successful."
"I'm going to visit Dillard University next week, and I'm looking forward to it," Plummer said. "This was a long season but it paid off. PJC is small, but there are good people here."
The PJC Lady Dragons finished their season ranked third in NJCAA Region XIV, which also contained the number one and number five nationally ranked teams. Plummer also earned Coach LeBeauf's Basketball Ambassador Award for outstanding effort in the classroom, on the team and in the community.
