Staci Harrell, a Prairiland High School senior, has been presented the Donna and Leo Moersen Registered Nursing Scholarship to attend Paris Junior College. This scholarship pays full tuition, fees and books, and provides nursing uniforms for the two-year Associate Degree nursing program at Paris Junior College. Harrell is the granddaughter of Julia Powers and James Graham of Blossom. While in high school, Harrell participated in band and FFA. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and is a Texas Scholar. Staci wants to ultimately become a nurse practitioner. "Being able to help others like others have helped me is my reason for wanting to become a nurse," Harrell said. "This scholarship allows me to accomplish goals above and beyond anyone in my family and offers me an opportunity I would not otherwise have had." "We are fortunate to have scholarship donors such as Mr. and Mrs. Moersen that provide opportunities for the young people in our community," said Marcia Putnam, director of Paris Junior College Health Occupations Department. "I look forward to working with Ms. Harrell as the Moersen recipient for this year."
