Paris Junior College student Karen Elliott of Paris was honored in Austin last week, recognized as the PJC representative on the 2013 All-Texas Academic Team, receiving a medallion and certificate.
The All-Texas Academic Team is comprised of the top students from two-year colleges in Texas who are chosen for outstanding academic achievement, exemplary community service, and the quality of numerous essay submissions. Nominations are reviewed by the two-year college honor society, Phi Theta Kappa.
"It was very humbling," said Elliott. "I did not know what a great honor this was until I got to the ceremony."
The awards ceremony and reception were held in Austin March 26, 2013, at the LBJ Auditorium on the University of Texas' Austin campus. Also in attendance were PJC President Dr. Pamela Anglin and Marsha Dennis, PJC English instructor and one of PJC's Phi Theta Kappa advisors.
