At the Paris Junior College sports assembly this week, awards were presented to Most Valuable Players in each sport on campus. They include, from the left, Craig Corriston and Zach Oliver, baseball; KeeDae Lee, golf; Brian Bufrrell and Ramon Clemente, men’s basketball; LaKeisha Jones, women’s basketball, and Brittany Strickland, softball.
Rachel Barrow on Monday became the first Lady Dragon softball player to win the McLemore Cup, given each year since 1961 to the sophomore player considered the most valuable from all sports at Paris Junior College.
Barrow was presented the award at the PJC sports assembly held Monday afternoon in the Hunt Center. Athletic Director Dr. Jim Moffitt, speaking at the assembly, pointed out that all five men's and women's sports teams qualified for post-season tournaments in NJCAA Region XIV.
"This has been an outstanding year for the PJC athletic program, and I commend the athletes and the coaches for all their effort," he said.

An outfielder for the Lady Dragon softball team, Barrow was just last week named to the first team All-Conference squad. The Princeton native was an honorable mention All-Conference selection last year.
The Most Valuable Player awards were given to team members in each of the five sports at PJC. Sophomore LaKeisha Jones, the leading scorer last season for the Lady Dragons, was named MVP in women's basketball.
Sophomore Brian Burrell and freshman Ramon Clemente received the Carroll Dawson Cup as the MVP in men's basketball.
KeeDae Lee, recently named to the All-Region team, was named the Most Valuable Player in golf.
Craig Corriston, a sophomore from Paris, and Waco freshman Zach Oliver received the Barney Bray Cup as most valuable players on the Dragon baseball team.
Second team All-Conference pitcher and infielder Brittany Strickland of Paris was named the Most Valuable Player on the Lady Dragon softball team. Catcher Tamarra Young was named most improved and outfielder Brandi Dalme won the 3-D award.
