PJC student recital, holiday concert on tap

Paris Junior College's Music Department is offering a student recital Thursday, Nov. 29, and a holiday concert Tuesday, Dec. 4. The fall semester student recital on Thursday will feature music and musical theatre students performing selections from art music to modern musical theater repertoire. The show will be 7:30 p.m. in the Shaw Recital Hall in the Mayer Music Building. The Dec. 4 Christmas by Candlelight Concert will be held in the Ray Karrer Theatre on at 7:30 p.m. "The candlelight concert will feature music for the Christmas season from classical choral literature to modern choral compositions," said PJC music instructor and Director of Choirs Philip Briggs. "Among the pieces performed will be music from Gregorian chant, Morten Lauridsen, Maurice Durufle, contemporary Christmas Carol settings, and works by English composer John Rutter."
