Roan Oak Masonic Lodge Awards Six PJC Nursing Scholarships

Thanks to the generosity of the Roan Oak Masonic Lodge, six members of the 2016-17 associate degree nursing class at Paris Junior College received $500 toward their tuition, fees and related expenses.
Located in Garrett’s Bluff, the Roan Oak Masonic Lodge #860 was again able to receive a matching gift from the Texas Masonic Charities Foundation, Inc. from local fundraising efforts.
Lodge Worshipful Master Travis King and Treasurer James Parsons awarded the scholarships to: Katie Harrington and Julie Strain of Paris; Angela Thompson of Sumner; Haley Chappell of Detroit; Sarah Merritt of Deport; and Rebeca Rogers of Cooper.
“The Lodge strives to assist others and make the world a better place," said King. "We appreciate the opportunity to present the students with the scholarships so they can complete their education and contribute to the community."
“We are so appreciative of the interest the Roan Oak Lodge has in assisting our students at PJC,” said PJC Health Occupations Interim Director Stephanie Parker. “Our nursing program demands a lot from our students and this assistance is appreciated.”
Roan Oak Masonic Lodge’s major fundraiser in the fall each year is a fish fry at the Lodge and is scheduled for October 22 and everyone is invited to attend the fun event.
