Thanks to the generosity of the Roan Oak Masonic Lodge, four members of the 2018-19 associate degree nursing class at Paris Junior College received $500 toward their tuition, fees and related expenses.
Located in Garrett’s Bluff, the Roan Oak Masonic Lodge #860 was again able to receive a match gift from the Texas Masonic Charities Foundation, Inc. from local fundraising efforts.
Lodge Treasurer Larry Slagle and Secretary James Parsons awarded the scholarships to Jaslyn Reynolds and Vianna Ross of Paris, Sabrina Wilson of Bagwell, and Tanzila Hostetler of Brookston.
“It’s a tremendous honor for us to provide scholarships to these nursing students,” said Slagle. “The Roan Oak Masonic Lodge strives to assist others and make the world a better place. We’ll continue to do this. I wish we could do more, and maybe we will be able to.”
The Lodge’s major fundraiser in the fall each year is a fish fry and it is scheduled for October 27, from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Garrett’s Bluff, and everyone is invited to attend. For information about the event, call 903-732-4035.
“The PJC nursing program is most grateful to the Lodge for their continued assistance to our students,” said PJC Director of Nursing, Stephanie Parker. “Our nursing program demands a lot from our students and this help is greatly appreciated.”
