Entry rules for 2015 PJC creative writing awards

Categories: Short Story, Poetry, Argumentative/Informative Essay, Research Essay with Documentation, Narrative Essay Regional Literature A regional literature entry may be a nonfiction essay, a poem, a short story, or a play. Whatever its genre, the work must create a strong sense of place. The William A. Owens Creative Writing Award $150 ($75 for two semesters) An entry in this category will consist of two nonfiction prose essays and two creative works. The creative works may be any combination of fiction, poetry, or drama. Entries will be evaluated in terms of creativity, intellectual depth, and technical proficiency. NOTE: This scholarship is for PJC only. It is not transferable to another institution. PJC sponsors these annual awards to recognize and reward literary creativity. Any student enrolled for at least six credit hours during the Fall 2014-Spring 2015 academic year is eligible. Writers may enter all contests, but a writer may submit only one entry per contest and may submit only those works not previously entered. Entries for the William A. Owens Award may also be entered separately in the other categories as well. Judges, chosen from outside PJC, and the Communications Division reserve the right to limit awards because of insufficient entries or merit. To enter the contest, a student must do the following:- 1. Type and double space the entry.
- 2. Use size 12, Times New Roman font.
- 3. Make a separate file for each entry.
- 4. Label each file with Category, Title of Work (or shortened version) and Entrant’s last name (example: PoetrySunshineDoe)
- 5. Entries should be emailed directly to PJC Creative Writing (pjccreativewriting@parisjc.edu).
