A busy spring is on tap for the Paris Junior College Student Government Association as officers plan for activities, events and meetings.
SGA President Derick Waugh of Paris received updates and reports on Monday from Vice President Sarai Martinez of Talco, Secretary/Treasurer Sarah Kym of Greenville, and Publicity Director Jamie Williams of Royce City.
On March 1 the Texas Junior College Student Government Association Region 3 will hold a meeting in Tyler to prepare for the State SGA Convention to be held April 11-14. On March 29 SGA will sponsor a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon in the Student Center Ballroom.
In addition to practicing parliamentary procedure, the group is planning to put out recycling boxes to collect plastic grocery bags at the Student Center, Workforce Training Center, Rheudasil Learning Center, South Campus Residence Hall and Administration Building. Each Friday the bags will be collected and taken to the Downtown Food Pantry, which uses about 4,000 bags a week as they distribute food.
