PJC women’s basketball players Danisha Shaw of Kenner, La., left, and Kiera Oby of Baton Rouge, La., have signed to continue their careers at Wiley College. They are pictured with PJC Athletic Director and Women’s Basketball Coach Sean LeBeauf.
Wiley College will be seeing two of Paris Junior College's Lady Dragons basketball players next year, Danisha Shaw of Kenner, La., and Kiera Oby of Baton Rouge, La. Shaw graduated from Bonnabel High School, and Oby graduated from Belaire High School.
"Wiley College is getting two battle-tested players who will make an immediate impact on that level," said PJC Athletic Director and Women's Basketball Coach Sean LeBeauf. "They've competed in the deepest conference in the nation and will have no problem making the adjustment."
"I think Wiley is the best decision for me, and it wasn't that hard," said Shaw. "I fell in love with the coaches. But there's a lot of memories at PJC, and my teammates are like sisters. And you can't beat Coach Sean."
"I'm used to Paris," said Oby, "so this will be a new experience. But I felt comfortable at Wiley. I'm going to miss Coach Sean, though."
During the season, the Lady Dragons ranked as high as 11th in the nation. Oby averaged 9.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game and was 86 percent from the free throw line. Shaw averaged 8 points and 3 rebounds per game and was 71 percent from the free throw line.
