Sinjin Smith continues family sports tradition

Published or Revised July 10, 2010

Sinjin Smith has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Paris Junior College, according to Head Coach Deron Clark. Sinjin, the son of Greg and Breana Smith of Paris, continues a long family tradition as PJC athletes. His father Greg played baseball for PJC in 1983. A cousin, Casey Smith, was a PJC Dragons baseball player during the 2005-2006 season. His sister, Stormy Smith, was a PJC volleyball player during the inaugural 2006 season. His uncle, Don Smith, played basketball for PJC under Coach Jim Moffitt. Smith's great-uncle, Olin Jordan, was a member of the 1959 PJC Dragons baseball team that won the national championship. Members of that team were honored at special ceremonies at Hub Hollis Baseball Field in April. In addition to bringing talent to the Dragons baseball program, Sinjin is also a recognized Presidential Scholar. "We look forward to having Sinjin join our program and continue their family tradition," said Clark.
