Three Paris Junior College softball players recently earned National Junior College Athletic Association All-Conference and All-Region honors. Laycee Holcomb of Rockwall, Texas, was named First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region Utility & Designated Player. Audrey Farfan of Royse City, Texas, was named Second Team All Conference Catcher. Samantha Reynoso of Mesquite, Texas, was named Second Team All-Conference Outfielder. Paris Junior College Softball Coach Brent Shaw said the three were leaders on the team. "Laycee is one of our hardest workers and there's no one I'd rather have at bat in any situation against any pitcher," Shaw said. "Audrey caught almost every game – 37 – she batted all year in the heart of our lineup, and she's a great clutch hitter with runners on base. Sam played center field with a great arm and good speed and she led our team in doubles." The three commented that while the season did not go as expected, "a rollercoaster" as Farfan noted, that they were pleased with their performances. "Overall it's been a great privilege to play for PJC," said Reynoso. "Playing college softball was a great experience, and I'm glad I came to PJC," said Holcomb. "Toward the end of the season it was nerve-wracking as to whether we'd be in the regional tournament," said Farfan, "I caught a lot of games, and it was hard work, but it was a fun experience." The season's batting averages were: Holcomb at .424, Farfan at .371 and Reynoso at .352; doubles were Holcomb at 16, Reynoso at 15 and Farfan at 13; home runs totals were seven for Holcomb, six for Farfan and three for Reynoso; and RBIs total 30 for Farfan and Reynoso and 23 for Holcomb.
