Several softball players honored this year

Though hopes to win the regional tournament didn't pan out this season for the Paris Junior College Dragons softball team, Head Coach Corey Lyon can still reflect on other successes from the recently concluded season. "In the last two years we have been able to amass a total of 78 wins and finished the regular season both years ranked in the top 25 national ranking of the National Junior College Athletic Association," said Lyon. "This is the best two-season total in the history of the softball program here at PJC." A school record of nine players earned All-Conference honors, and seven players made the Region XIV Eastern Conference First Team. Six girls also received All-Region honors. Three were named to the All-Region First Team, and sophomore Megan Brigance has been nominated for All-American Honors. All three sophomores — Rachel Damiris, Taylor Russell and Brigance — will leave PJC earning All-Region Academic honors with GPAs higher than 3.5.
