TAMU renews PJC biomedical sciences articulation agreement

A great vote of confidence has been received by the Paris Junior College biomedical sciences program through renewal of an articulation agreement with the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University in College Station. PJC has been one of only a handful of two-year colleges in Texas to enter into a 2+2 articulation agreement with TAMU. Under the agreement, PJC biomedical students successfully completing the program transfer straight into the highly competitive biomedical science program in College Station. “We now have five years of transferring solid candidates to the biomedical sciences program at College Station,” said Jack Brown, division chair for sciences and director of the biomedical sciences. “Our students have demonstrated that PJC’s program is highly successful and we have been praised by the TAMU faculty for their quality and success.” Biomedical science is the broad field of applied biology relating to health and disease. A degree can open pathways to professional schools in human or veterinary medicine, dentistry, osteopathy, podiatry, optometry, pharmacy and law, to name a few. It can also lead to a career in a laboratory or in research science. To transfer, PJC students must have maintained a cumulative 3.6 GPA in courses taken at PJC and be eligible to graduate from PJC. They must make at least a “B” in their common body of knowledge science and math course work, and complete the degree plan. The renewed agreement becomes effective with the fall 2014 semester.
