“The Giver” opens Thursday at PJC

Cast of “The Giver,” opening Thursday night at Paris Junior College, gets ready for a production for middle school students on Tuesday.
Thursday is opening night for the Paris Junior College Department of Drama’s “The Giver,” based on the Newbery Award-winning book by Lois Lowry and adapted for the stage by Eric Coble. Lowry’s book is a modern classic beloved by young readers.
“The Giver” follows Jonas as he begins an unforgettable journey of discovery beginning on his twelfth birthday when he becomes The Receiver of Memory, a title of honor in his community. He learns his perfect society is not what it seems to be. He is suddenly faced with a choice of what to do with his newfound knowledge in a place where choice no longer exists.
Show dates and times are October 6-8 at 7:30 pm and October 8-9 at 2:30 pm. Tickets are $15 general admission and FREE to PJC students, faculty, and staff with ID. For more information, contact pjcdrama@parisjc.edu.
