Two Paris Junior College Dragons softball players have signed to continue their education and playing careers at four-year universities.
Jessica Branam of Irving, Texas, who plays third base for the Dragons, will attend Ouchita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark., in the fall. Dragons' shortstop Audrey Farfan of Rockwall, Texas, will attend Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Ark.
"I've had a great year with my PJC softball family," Branam said. "I'm going to miss them so much. Definitely taking our quote 'adapt and overcome' with me to OBU."
"Jessica is a talented and hard-working young lady who is going to do big things at OBU," said Dragons Head Coach Nicole Dickson. "Jess has had a great year hitting lead-off for the dragons this season with an average of .335, and has done a solid job at third base on defense. She has a great career ahead of her."
"Audrey is the total package when it comes to a high-level student-athlete," said Dickson. "She not only is one of the best players in the region, but she has amazing grades, as well. Audrey can play anywhere on the field. This season she has stepped up and played shortstop for the Dragons. Audrey leads the team with six homeruns and is hitting .350 on the year.
"I have really enjoyed my two years at PJC," said Farfan. "The coaches are great, and the girls are awesome. I love my team, and I will miss them so much next year, but I am so incredibly thankful for the opportunity to be a Lady Mule Rider. I'm so excited to continue my education and my softball career at SAU."
