This course covers the fundamentals of electricity with emphasis on resistance, voltage and current, electrical quantities and units of measurements, and OHM’s Law, Kirchhoff’s voltage and current laws for Direct Current. The material will also cover the principles and applications of alternating current, inductors, capacitors, and phase relationships. Course Outcomes: Identify safe practices for working with DC circuits according to OSHA standards; explain OHM’s and Kirchhoff’s Law to internal/external customers; use electrical measuring instrumentation; apply OHM’s and Kirchhoff’s voltage and current laws to calculate voltage and current; design and evaluate a DC Circuit; and apply principles of alternating current (AC) power in installation and troubleshooting of circuits. » Dates to be announced.
This course covers instruction in lifesaving skills of respiratory (choking and near drowning) and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants to provide information about heart disease, pediatric and adult risk factors, prudent heart living, heart and lung function, and signals and action for survival. The course instructs learners in the management of the adult, child, and infant who needs CPR or foreign body airway management. This course will instruct learners in the two rescuer approach to the adult and child victim. Textbook is required.

You will learn the ABCs so you can fingerspell words that you don’t know signs for, but you will also learn words and phrases, too. With practice you will be able to sign and communicate with deaf people. You will learn conversation signing and increase American Sign Language communication in the work environment. Introductory course covering the use and maintenance of equipment, safety techniques, and hands on use of “top of the line” machines for sawing and shaping of rough gem materials to finished stones. Covers orientation of phenomenon stones; and cutting to calibrated sizes as well as free-form shapes. (WECM Course Number HRGY 1091 - Special Topics in Watchmaking and Jewelrymaking)

Are you interested in learning how to have fun with floral designs? The Basic Floral Design seminar will teach you how to have fun with your designs as you learn: Tools and techniques for dry silk and fresh floral designs; wiring and taping techniques; and floral design forms and basic principles of design. This class will give the student an introduction to: color theory and applications; flower and foliage identification; seasonal designs; event designs; and where to find great flowers year round. Each student will design and create a silk and fresh flower arrangement to take home. Each student will receive a kit which includes: floral tape, florist wire, wire cutters, glue gun, dry floral foam, designer bowl, mixed silks, and mixed greenery.

Working with clay is a great place for imagination to meet fun, messy skills. Students will learn the art of hand building which includes pinching, slab, coil and textures. Students will also learn about the under-glaze process and compare it to glazing. Be prepared to get a bit messy. Hands on Clay is designed for fifth through eighth graders.

This course prepares you for the Verbal and Science Reasoning sections of the SAT and ACT tests. Taking both Course 1 and 2 in this SAT/ACT Preparation series prepares you for question types on each test using proven test-taking techniques.

In this second course of a two-course series, we will analyze each of the quantitative test question areas on the SAT and ACT. Topics include basic and advanced math concepts (including fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions) and algebraic and geometric concepts.

This course will give you a practical and functional use of Spanish in a very short period of time. Relax and enjoy learning Spanish with a method that breaks the language down to basic components which enables you to reconstruct the language to form your own sentences, to say what you want, when you want. You will experience a constant sense of learning and a constant sense of progression. And no homework required. Thousands of words are similar in both Spanish and English, which makes it easier to remember vocabulary. Grammar and pronunciation don't have to be "perfect" in order to be understood.
Messages in Spanish can be communicated with a few simple expressions. There are numerous opportunities to practice new Spanish skills with the increasing number of Hispanics in the U.S. People who relax and enjoy their learning experiences seem to acquire Spanish at a much faster pace.
