Working Lead Custodian
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment while providing leadership and guidance to custodial staff. This role combines hands-on custodial work with supervisory duties, ensuring that cleaning standards, safety procedures, and work schedules are met consistently.
Qualifications: Applicant must have 5 years custodial experience required, Current Texas driver's license and insurable with the College's insurance carrier, and leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Skills supervising and training custodial staff, including new hires. Ability to provide ongoing training regarding safety procedures, cleaning techniques, and equipment use, maintain physical activity over prolonged periods of time, deal in a fair and courteous manner with a variety of individuals in a leadership capacity, demonstrate competence and interest to the general public, citizens, and/or customer departments, ensure employees and oneself represent the college in a positive, professional manner, ensure work assignments are completed in an orderly and timely manner, demonstrate and train safe work habits. This includes safe use of equipment and/or chemicals and use proper assigned PPE, work around chemicals, dust, noise and constant interruptions, identify, report, and call for assistance in potentially dangerous situations, work with and help other employees, accept supervision, assignments, change, and correction. Also, be able to implement these changes to direct reports, review work and set-up requests, maintain an acceptable work place, stand, stoop, crawl, and kneel, and perform assigned responsibilities, duties, tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques and standards and provide supervision within the assigned time frame, and to report and follow up on maintenance issues such as broken fixtures, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards. Knowledge of planning, assigning, and monitoring work schedules to ensure efficient coverage of facilities, the proper lifting techniques with the ability to apply and train these techniques, regarding inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; request replenishment as needed.
Salary: The minimum hourly salary for this position is $19.00 and the actual starting salary will be dependent upon education and experience of the chosen candidate.
Fringe Benefits: This position covers health insurance at 100% for employee. Additional optional coverages include dental, vision, AD&D, life insurance, and long- and short-term disability. Other benefits include retirement under the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, accrued sick leave, vacation, paid holidays, and an employee reimbursement/dependent scholarship program. Health benefits require a 60-day employment period.
