Foster Care Student Liaison
Foster Care Student Liaison
Paris Junior College is proud to support students who are currently or formerly in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). In compliance with Texas Education Code § 51.9356, PJC has designated a Foster Care Student Liaison to assist eligible students in accessing the resources, benefits, and guidance they need to succeed in college.
The Foster Care Student Liaison is available to help with:
-
Understanding tuition and fee exemptions for students formerly in foster care
-
Connecting students with financial aid, scholarships, and campus resources
-
Navigating admissions, enrollment, housing, and academic advising
-
Referrals to mental health support, career services, and community-based programs
-
Providing a supportive, understanding point of contact on campus
Who is eligible?
Students who were in the conservatorship (foster care) of DFPS on or after their 18th birthday, or who were adopted from DFPS after age 14, may qualify for a tuition and fee waiver in Texas and other support services.
If you are a current or former foster youth, you don’t have to navigate college on your own. We’re here to help.
