Institutional Code of Conduct for Education Loans
In compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) of 2008, Paris Junior College (PJC) has adopted the following Code of Conduct to govern the practices of its employees, officers, and agents with respect to student educational loans. This Code is intended to ensure transparency, integrity, and fairness in student financial aid practices and prohibit conflicts of interest.
Ban on Revenue-Sharing Arrangements
PJC and its employees will not enter into any revenue-sharing arrangement with any lender. A revenue-sharing arrangement is defined as any arrangement between an institution and a lender that results in the lender paying a fee or providing other benefits in exchange for loan referrals.
Gifts
No officer, employee, or agent of PJC who is employed in the financial aid office or who otherwise has responsibilities with respect to education loans shall solicit or accept any gift from a lender, guarantor, or servicer of education loans.
“Gift” includes gratuities, favors, discounts, entertainment, hospitality, loan forgiveness,
services, transportation, lodging, meals, or other items with monetary value.
Exceptions include standard materials (brochures, training) or entrance/exit counseling
assistance permitted under federal law.
Contracting Arrangements Prohibited
No PJC employee involved in financial aid processes may accept any fee, payment, or financial benefit from a lender or servicer in exchange for consulting services or other services related to educational loans.
Interaction with Borrowers
PJC will not assign a borrower’s loan to a particular lender or servicer or refuse to certify, or delay certification of, any loan based on the borrower’s selection of lender or servicer.
Offers of Funds for Private Loans
PJC will not request or accept any offers of funds for private education loans from lenders, including funds for opportunity pool loans, in exchange for benefits or privileges offered to the lender.
Advisory Board Compensation
PJC employees who serve on advisory boards or groups established by lenders or guarantors will not receive anything of value for their service, except for reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred in serving on such boards.
Loan Servicer Referrals and Preferred Lender Lists
PJC does not maintain a preferred lender list and does not endorse or recommend any specific lenders or servicers. Students are free to select any lender of their choice, and PJC will process loans from all eligible lenders equally and without delay.
Compliance and Enforcement
This Code of Conduct applies to all PJC officers, employees, and agents involved in student financial aid activities. Violations may result in disciplinary action in accordance with institutional policies and applicable laws.
